ABOUT ME

Amy E. Harth is a media studies and economic development scholar focusing on representations of Africa in Western media. In 2009, she completed her master's degree at Tiffin University, which explored myths and stereotypes of Africa and Africans in Western news media. Amy is currently working on her PhD dissertation. Building on her work in media studies, her dissertation links economic development failure to misrepresentations of Africa in Western media. In addition to her scholarly work in media studies, Amy is a Facebook editor for two transpartisan organizations, the national Coffee Party and Represent.Us Northeast Kansas Chapter. She is also the Resolution Manager for Represent.Us NE KS. Amy is currently a Research Analyst and has held a variety of positions in higher education administration, where she writes for public-facing websites and other publications. In her work in higher education, she and a colleague created a professional development webinar program for faculty and staff pursuing doctorates, which received an American Association of University Administrators Exemplary Model Program Award in 2015. Amy has extensive experience as an editor for authors of both academic and popular media. She also enjoys guest lecturing, writing professional development columns and public speaking. Amy lives in Overland Park, Kansas.
